What’s Our Story?

Have you ever wondered how our flooring store began? It all started a long, long time ago in 1961. A man named Lynn Wollschlager knew everything there was to know about carpets and floors. He decided to open Tallahassee's very first special flooring store, called The Carpet Shop, Inc.

People in Tallahassee loved Lynn’s shop! He was honest, helpful, and knew how to find the best floors for everyone. As more and more people came to his store, the business grew bigger and bigger. In 1987, something exciting happened. The Carpet Shop, Inc. joined a big family of other great flooring stores across the country called the Carpet One Floor & Home Co-op. This allowed our little shop to offer even more amazing floors while staying a local flooring store that cares about our community.

We may have moved to a new spot and have more friendly faces on our team, but our main goal is still the same as it was back in 1961. We promise to give you top-quality floors from the best makers in the world.
